Overseas Research Team Develops Tuberculosis Scanning System to fight tuberculosis

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), tuberculosis kills about 1.5 million people worldwide every year. Tuberculosis is an infectious disease that mainly affects the lungs. For treatment, you must take many drugs every day for at least six months.
So successful treatment also depends on drugs that reach tuberculosis bacteria in the lungs. However, foreign researchers have developed a system that can easily treat tuberculosis through tuberculosis scanning.

According to a report by HealthDay News, a team at Johns Hopkins Hospital developed a system to ensure that a major drug called Lipampine reaches the lung area of tuberculosis bacteria using CT and PET scans.

The system is called '11C- Ripampine PET / CT'.

The team explained that the concentration of the lungs can be seen using 11C-rephampine drugs. These scans indicated the lowest presence of drugs in lung lesions and cavities caused by tuberculosis.

"Imaging the lungs with PET and CT scans can help determine how many refarm pins are reaching bacteria over time, and use data to make decisions to fight tuberculosis more quickly and effectively," the team said.

Meanwhile, the findings were published in the journal Nature Medicine on Feb. 17.
